UNFPA launches a distribution campaign for socio-economic kits to IDP & host community women affected by socio-political crisis in the North West and South West Regions. With financial support from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), 87 women were targeted in Douala. The event was presided over by the representative of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family.
This came as one of the pioneering activities for the first field visit of UNFPA Cameroon Resident Representative, Dr. Justin Koffi, who earlier visited humanitarian response services, including Sexual and Reproductive Health & GBV, provided to IDPs & host communities from the North West & South West Regions by UNFPA in Douala.
Cameroon Humanitarian Response Plan 2022 registered 3.9million persons in need. With the support of partners such as the Local Bureau of Civil Protection and European Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) & UN Peacebuilding Fund, UNFPA provides lifesaving GBV services to affected women and girls in the North West and South West Regions. Focus is on Sexual and Reproductive Health, mental health and economic empowerment with over 120,000 beneficiaries.
