The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Gender Statistics in Cameroon organized its second session

The Committee was established within the "Women Count" Program, a Flagship Global Program, funded by UN Women and implemented since 2017 in 12 countries.
The second session of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Gender Statistics in Cameroon was organized at Hôtel Azur in Yaoundé, December 17th 2019, to provides its members an update of the project implementation by stakeholders after the first session organized in July 25th. The Inter-ministerial Committee provides its members with strategic orientations to improve the production and use of gender statistics for a better monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Gender Policy.
The Committee was established within the "Women Count" Program, a Flagship Global Program, funded by UN Women and implemented since 2017 in 12 countries. It is currently implemented in Cameroon, in partnership with MINPROFF, INS, BUCREP, and several other entities with the overall objective of making gender statistical data available, accessible, analyzed and used, to inform policies, advocacy and accountability to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women
The working session started with the address of Mrs Hind JALAL, Deputy Representative of UN Women Cameroon, followed by the opening speech of the Committee Chairman, Mr. Moussa AOUDOU, Secretary General of the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family (MINPROFF), in the presence of the Vice-Chairman's representative who is the Director of the National Statistics Institute.
Mr Alain MATIP, Head of the Studies, Planning and Cooperation Division at MINPROFF, presented the minutes of the previous session for endorsement. He gave the floor to Mr Pierre MENGATA, Head of the Planning and Statistics Division at MINPROFF, who presented the 2019 achievements to date as well as the 2020 Annual Work Plan to the participants.
At the end of the session, the results of 2019 were endorsed and the 2020 Annual Work Plan was adopted.
