Cameroonian youth now have a platform that seeks to connect them to socio-economic opportunities and promote their full civic and political inclusion. This follows the official launch of the Youth Connekt Initiative in Cameroon on 9 December 2019 by the Representative of the President of the Republic of Cameroon- Pr. Jacques Fame Ndong, who is the Minister of States, Minister of Higher Education.
While presenting the platform to over 5000 youth from across the country during the launch, the Resident Representative of UNDP Cameroon, Jean Luc Stalon said the platform will create over 5000 jobs, train 1 million leaders in Civic education, interconnect 1 million youth train 100.000 young girls in reproductive health and engage 3000 young girls to reduce gender gaps.
On her part, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon- Allegra Baiocchi assured the youth of UN support in the realization of the expected results.
From the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Mounouna Fotso to the President of the Cameroon National Youth Council, Fatima Idawa, Youth Connekt is a welcome initiative which interconnects youth to better opportunities.
The colorful ceremony at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Yaounde which, was graced by the presence of the Ambassador of Youth Connekt Cameroon- Samuel Eto’o Fils was attended by government top officials, the private sector and the diplomatic corps to Cameroon.
